BUDDING model Oisin Murphy proves GAA is in Vogue this year — after posing in a full hurling kit for the fashion bible.

The hunky 19-year-old has become an overnight sensation after appearing in the Paris edition of the glossy magazine alongside model Adwoa Aboah.

Hurler Oisin has been inundated with interview requests and social media messages since the autumn edition hit shelves this week — but the Birr, Co Offaly native insists he won’t let fame go to his head.

He said: “I was supposed to be doing an interview for GQ on Sunday about it but I couldn’t do it because I have a match that day.

“All my teammates are happy for me, but it’s an industry that you just don’t know what’s going to happen, you can’t really hope too much.

“I’m absolutely delighted about the whole thing though. I’ve got a few hundred more followers since the pictures came out. All of my social media is starting to blow up, my phone is just hopping.”

The Offaly teen insists the attention won’t go to his head

Oisin says he’s seen the snaps online but hasn’t been able to get a hold of the hard copy just yet. He added: “I’ll struggle to find it in Birr, I’d say. I’ll have to go and find it in Easons or something.”

Oisin landed the romance-themed shoot two months ago, when top photographer Alasdair McLellan approached him with the idea.

He admits he was nervous when he found out it would appear in the world’s most famous fashion mag — but soon relaxed after meeting modelling superstar Adwoa.

Oisin said: “I knew it was going to be for Vogue so I was over the moon, I couldn’t believe it, it was so surreal. That’s what you dream of.

The pair shared a passionate kiss in one photo

“I met the photographer months ago and did a few test shoots for him, he must have really liked me and he got me the job.

“I was very nervous doing it because it was so high-profile but when you’re getting on well with the photographer you get comfortable.

“I got on really well with Adwoa as well. She’s really well-known so I was fairly nervous but we got on well and we’ve been in contact since.”

The pair shared a passionate kiss in one of the photos and Oisin, who is single, admitted: “I quite liked that, it was the highlight of the shoot actually.”

Oisin works in a steel factory when not posing for Vogue

In the photoshoot, Oisin wears a Ruairi Og and Cushendall strip, a team based in Co Antrim where the shoot took place.

But in real life, he plays on the Birr senior team and lifted the cup for the town’s 7-aside team, as part of the GAA Battle of Champions crown last weekend.

And while he was fully prepared to get some stick from his teammates about his newfound fame, Oisin says the lads are proud of him.

He said: “You get the odd slagging but nothing major, everyone is pretty happy for me. The whole town is proud of me.”

The Offaly native was originally discovered on Instagram

When he’s not posing for Vogue, Oisin works as an apprentice steel fabricator in Tullamore.

But he added: “It would be nice to leave my job and model full-time.

“Hopefully my career can take off from here. I’d love to work with Kendall Jenner or Bella Hadid, that would be amazing.”

Oisin was discovered on Instagram by Irish modelling firm NotAnother Agency two years ago.

He was signed straight away and travelled to London where he joined international agency IMG.

They also manage his brother Ronan as well as superbabes Bella, Miranda Kerr and Gisele Bundchen.

Speaking about landing the plum contract, he said: “IMG said if I shaved my head, they’d sign me, so I shaved my head and ever since then, things are going good for me.”

He added: “I’d love if my career took off but we’ll see what happens. My older brother has been giving me a bit of advice, he just says be yourself and don’t try to be like anyone else. Don’t judge yourself.

“You see so many people on Instagram and you just think, ‘Am I as good as them? Is my body as good as theirs?’ But you just can’t think like that. It doesn’t help you.”
